The MSPA is run by its members, for its members. Each Chapter, North America, Europe, Asia Pacific and Latin America, has their own Board of Directors, under the advisory control of the Global Board. The board members are volunteers, elected by the Association membership, and generally serving on their board for a period of five years.

The Global Board contains representatives from each Chapter, usually the President or past-president, and operates to provide continuity between the Chapters, to decide policy, to resolve issues and to advice the Chapter Boards as appropriate.

Each Chapter Board is supported by an administrator and support staff as required.
